Queens' 6 St. John's 0

Organisation for this game wasn't up to it's usual standard (sorry!!) after a spate of last minute injuries and cancellations which removed us of 4 players and the referee.
Luck was on our side however, as john's had problems too, so we started the game playing 9 v 9 with one of our players reffing (thanks Yue!)
The wind was very fierce throughout the game and we were playing with the wind in the first half which lead to alot of our through balls overhit to their keeper. However, a couple of goals in the first half gave us a 2-0 lead and st. john's didn't create alot of chances (despite our attacking 3-3-2 formation).
The second half was almost all queens' possession with john's playing on the counterattack with a couple of quick strikers that Pete and Jon dealt with comfortably. Matt, Gustavo, Itzam and Gabriel were linking up well with Tom and Yue and everyone played a good game, passing the ball around well.
Team: Dan, Pete, Andy, Jon, Gabriel, Itzam, Gustavo, Matt, Tom, Yue
Goals: Matt (3), Gabriel, Tom, Yue

Next weekend, we have the quarter-final of the MCR champions league cup, home versus St. Catherines, so please can everyone make sure they are around to play!!!!!!!

Queens' 4 MBA 1

This victory guarantees queens' a place in the quarter-finals of the MCR champions league cup! Well played guys!!

The game was very one-sided, although MBA did have few players who troubled Queens' in the centre of the pitch, although our defence was untroubled for much of the game.
We took a 2-0 lead into half-time, despite not taking our chances and failing to provide a final ball on many attacking moves, and the victory was looking comfortable.
Then, disaster stuck when MBA managed to fluke a cross into the net, as Dan was 'blinded by the sun!!' though there was very little he could do about it.
Stung by conceding a goal, we pushed forwards and retained possession better, and put the game beyond doubt with a couple more goals.

Team: Dan, Pete, Andy, Mark, Jon, Martin, Paul, Itzam, Jimaan, Gabriel, Tom, Matt, Yue, Peng, Tao, Nadeem.
Goals: Tom (2), Gabriel (2)

***** Unusual stat: so far this season, in the league and cup, queens' have scored 35 goals.
Only 5 different players have scored for Queens'!!!!
Tom (15), Gabriel (10), Yue (6), Jose (3) and Gustavo (1)
-------------------------------------------------------
Final group game next weekend: St John's (H), provided we don't lose, we'll finish top of our group and play 2nd place in group 1, which will be either St. Catz or Zoology (thou Catz are favourites as they only need a draw to go through, and we drew 3-3 with Catz last year in the league)

Queens' 5 Engineering 0

A comprehensive victory for Queens' against a physically strong engineering team, with Queens' failing to play anywhere near as well as we can do but still producing a performance good enough to win. Engineering battled all over midfield, with some very late tackles flying in!, but we had the skill and temperament to dominate. We managed to get 14 players to the game, which proves that the queens' bandwagon is picking up momentum with more quality players turning out every week and the squad is looking strong enough to challenge for the cup!

Team: Dan, Peter, Andy, Mark, Jon, Simon, Itzam, Gustavo, Yue, Tom, Gabriel, Jimaan, Bogdan, Bob.
Goals: Tom (2), Yue (2), Gabriel.

* Tom, Yue and Gabriel each have 3 goals each after two games, so the top scorer competition is still up for grabs!
